Thank you Rochester and Strood

I'm delighted that following a long campaign which started back in September last year with the defection of our MP, we now have rightly returned a Conservative Member of Parliament, Kelly Tolhurst, to Westminster, representing the people of Rochester and Strood.

The hard work of the many volunteers and supporters from both within and outside the constituency has been tremendous. As well as our excellent Parliamentary result, the successful result in the Medway Council elections has seen the return of a Conservative-led local authority with an increased majority.

Nationally the Conservative majority Government, under the inspirational leadership of David Cameron will enable our manifesto pledges to be implemented over the next 5 years without the dilution of a coalition as experienced in the last Parliament.

In the recent days since the election results Rochester and Strood already feels a better place to be with a brighter future ahead of it. Thank you to everyone who supported us.

Our manifesto for the next 5 years sets out how we will make this a country where those who work hard and do the right thing can enjoy a good life:

  1. The personal tax-free allowance raised to £12,500
  2. No 40p tax until you're earning £50,000
  3. The family home taken out of Inheritance Tax
  4. £8 billion more a year for our NHS - so it's there for your family, 7 days a week
  5. Rail fares frozen for five years
  6. Welfare controlled to reward work
  7. Multinationals pursued so they pay their tax
  8. The Right to Buy extended to 1.3 million extra families
  9. 30 hours of free childcare a week for working families with 3 and 4 year-olds
  10. Everyone earning the Minimum Wage lifted out of income tax altogether
